It’s RRSP Time for Lighting?

Well it’s that time of year
again and RRSP season is just
around the corner. Every year
I leave this to the last
minute. The delay is usually
due to my procrastination over
where to put my money. Where
can I get a decent return? My
choices are usually pretty
limited. You either go with
the low risk option of a GIC
that currently pays up to 3%
if you’re willing to keep your
money there for five years or
you can be a little more
adventurous, accept some risk
and try the stock market.

The Ultimate Green Lighting Retrofit Solution

Many companies have come to
realize the tremendous value
in switching to energy
efficient light fixtures,
enticed by savings of 50%
plus. Typically, existing
fixtures are replaced with new
fixtures such as T5 or T8
fluorescent lamps and
ballasts. But there are
alternatives that allow
companies to utilize their
existing fixtures – and enjoy
the same savings.

What you see is what you get?

Light is a funny thing; we are
surrounded by it, yet so often
what we see is just a minimal
fraction of what’s really
there. The human eye itself
only responds to light with
wavelengths between 380 nm and
750 nm, whereas some
laboratory tests have shown a
response from 2 nm to 2500 nm.
The fact that there
is all this light that we
humans are unable to perceive
raises some skepticism in the
lighting community; if we
cannot detect it, is it there?
Even if we can’t detect it
and it is there, should we be
paying for it?
